Tigray State finalizing over 4,000 condos

Mekelle, December 21, 2007 (WIC) – The over 4,000 condominium houses under construction with 1.4 billion birr in seven towns of Tigray State would be finalized this February, the state Housing Development Agency said.

Agency Planning, Information and Public Relations Head, Gebremariam Seyoum, told WIC today that the condos launched almost a year ago were delayed due to lack of effective supervision and machineries.

Construction is currently well underway following the implementation of the solutions set by the delegation of Ministry of Works and Urban Development and officials of the state Housing Development Agency last month.

He said the construction of the condos would thus be finalized early February as the 29 crushers were purchased and gone operational.

The condos have created jobs to some 4,000 people, according to Gebremariam.

The condos are being built in Mekelle, Shire Endasilassie, Axum, Adigrat, Humera, Maichew and Adwa towns, it was learnt.
