Court rejects objection of three defendants charged with dismantling constitutional order |
| Addis Ababa, March 3, 2006 (WIC) - The Federal High Court rejected the objection of three defendants accused under the file of Eng. Hailu Shawul that they should not be charged of dismantling the constitutional order through force. The court adjourned the trial for March 22, 2006. The Second Criminal Bench rejected the objection presented by attorneys of the three defendants, Kassahun Kebede, Daniel Bekele and Netsanet Demissie after examining their cases. While asked by the court to plea guilty or not guilty, the three defendants pleaded not guilty of the crime they were charged with. Another defendant, Wondimeneh Desalegn also pleaded not guilty of the charge and that he doesnt need attorney, as he has no intention of defending his case. The bench also ordered another defendant, Binyam Tadesse, who told the court that he doesn't need an attorney, to consider his decision and appear before the court during the next trial. The court also disclosed that only five of the defendants charged under the file of Eng. Hailu appeared before the court for passing verdict on their objection of the charges filed against them.
