Corrugated iron sheet factory inaugurated in Tigray state

Mekele, December 19,2005(WIC) - A corrugated iron sheet factory built with an outlay of 12 million birr here was inaugurated on Sunday.

The factory ,which has a capacity of producing 12,000 corrugated iron sheets of varying thicknesses daily, is located in the industrial site of Mekele town.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony,Chief Administrator of Tigray state,Tsegaye Berhe said the investment undertakings in the various sectors by private investors would augment the efforts of the government to reduce poverty and create employment opportunities.

He pledged that the state government would strengthen the support it provides for the investors and urged them to engage in their preferred fields of investments.

Owner of the factory, Paulos Gebreegziabehr,said on his part that he managed to build the factory by boosting the 20,000 birr small metal work he had utilizing the favorable investment opportunity in the state.

Upon going fully operational, the factory would create employment opportunities to about 60 people,it was learnt.
