Federal Police moves over 2,600 detainees from Dedesa to Zeway prison |
| 18/12/2005 (WIC) - The Federal Police announced that more than 2,600 detainees who were put under custody at Dedesa detention center for alleged involvement in the riot and violence in Addis Ababa in early November have been moved to the Zeway prison. It has also indicated that the Dedesa temporary detention center has been closed. In a statement it sent to ENA on Saturday, the Federal Police said in accordance with the decision of the court for the transfer of the detainees to prison until the prosecutor file charges, some 2,678 suspects have already been moved to the Zeway prison. The Commission said families of the detainees can visit the prisoners in accordance with the prison's program. Police has also indicated that it has been passing investigation files of the suspects who are alleged to have been directly involved in the violence to the prosecutor. Source: ENA |
