woredas of Afar, Tigray States sign dev't cooperation agreement

Some 14 neighboring woredas of Afar and Tigray States have signed a cooperation
agreement that would enable them to mutually enhance development.
At a conclusion of a relevant meeting held here yesterday it was noted that the cooperation document would help bring the development cooperation reached at states level to grass roots and strengthen development cooperation over the next five years.
Development Cooperation Representative of Afar State in Mekele, Mesfin Getaneh said the agreement would enable farmers and pastoralists in seven neighboring woredas of Afar state to benefit from the development undertakings .
The cooperation agreement would be also instrumental in enhancing development and ensuring food security by working in an integrated manner in agricultural development, livestock breeding, environmental protection and health sectors.
The agreement includes the supply of better inputs and technical supports with the budget to be allotted to the woredas, it was learnt.
Chief Administrators of the two states and representatives of nine sector offices as well as more than 100 officials and professionals were present at the signing ceremony.
Similar agreements would be signed among 26 neighboring woredas of Amhara and Afar States the day after tomorrow in Dessie town,the representative added. |
