Most dev't projects underway in Tigray resettlement sites go operational |
| Mekele, December 03,2005 (WIC)- Most of the 35 development projects under execution with an outlay of 12.2 million birr in the resettlement sites of Tigray state have reportedly gone operational. Resettlement Program Senior expert with the State,Berhaunu Nigussie told WIC today that 27 water wells operating manually and five health posts launched last Ethiopian year in Kafta Humera and Tsegede woredas of the state have gone operational. He said strengthened efforts are underway to make operational deep water well projects working with generator in a populated two centers of Kafta Humera sites. The expert said the construction of 30 kilometers of roads that links the sites with the main road and enable the resettlers supply their products to market is also underway. The construction of eight primary schools would be launched soon, he said, adding that five additional health posts will again be built with 1.7 million birr. Upon going fully operational this Ethiopian year, the projects would benefit 32,000 resettler households,it was noted. |
