EPRDF Support Forum Denounces Amnesty International Smear Campaign on Ethiopia.
(May 09, 2008) - EPRDF-SF vehemently denounces and rejects the smear campaign being purported by Amnesty International on our peace loving country, Ethiopia, and on our humane and highly disciplined Defense Forces. The fact that Amnesty International is lowering itself to such frivolous tale from horror movie, in such a precipitated fashion to sway public opinion, and to negatively impact Ethiopia is deplorable.
It has been so apparent to the whole world that, the Ethiopian Defense Forces are in Somalia at the behest of an internationally recognized Transitional Government of Somalia (TGS). Al-Shabaab and all of the various terrorist splinter groups in Somalia are operating to undermine stability and peaceful co-existence along the Horn of Africa. Rogue states such as Eritrea and Qatar are helping and abetting these groups to create havoc both in Somalia and Ethiopia, by targeting and killing numerous innocent civilians. Time and time again, Amnesty International is nowhere to be found to condemn such terrorist deeds and to stand against those terror sponsoring regimes.
EPRDF-SF is cognizant of the fact that Amnesty International, despite its sensitive and concerned sounding name, is still a subset of an International Non-Governmental Organization with the sole purpose of campaigning on behalf of which it chooses. This time, Amnesty International has chosen to campaign for Al-Shabaab and the various riffraff terrorist groups directly, and for terror sponsoring rogue states such as Eritrea, indirectly.
Amnesty International seeks to attract attention by going as far as it can so that policies of those nations it is targeting are changed. In this case, Amnesty International is seeking to change the great helping hand that Ethiopia had lent Somalia at the behest of TGS. Amnesty International is also being lobbied by various groups including OLF and ONLF, so that, these terrorist groups get what they have failed to achieve through terrorism by the pressure that Amnesty International brings forth on Ethiopia. In other words, what these terrorist groups failed to achieve with the help of mad Congressmen from New Jersey is being tested by Amnesty International.
As a campaigning group, Amnesty International works to influence those powerless and poor nations more often than it does those states with power and the resource to bring hell on it. Its good name and deed of the past cannot save Amnesty International from its real nature. Amnesty International is not the Red Cross we know that solely helps people by staying neutral on political issues. Instead, Amnesty International is a political campaign
group that cannot be trusted as impartial for it is siding with one political entity by rejecting another. This time, AI is making it crystal clear and is standing with Al-Shabaab, the Eritrean rouge state, and with few mad Congressmen from New Jersey. And, in order to achieve its campaign objective, it is using words that deprecate the humane culture that we Ethiopians have cultivated for millenniums.
EPRDF-SF denounces and rejects Amnesty International for its despicable campaign to depict Ethiopians as barbarians, by injecting framing phrases such as slitting throats “like goats.” Shame on you Amnesty International! You have bought yourself terrorizing groups of fawning admirers who were desperately hoping to win your favor. And for now, they have succeeded, and to some extent you have become as culpable as these terrorist groups, and we stand to fight you until your formal apology to the Ethiopian people is formally forwarded ASAP.
